Best model train sets for beginners
by Emo Roxas333
The best model train sets for beginners are the ones that are the simplest and cheapest. They can be collected by the young and old. Train sets can even be a hobby for quality time with kids and family. So anyone that has the time and patience to make model train sets, should start the hobby. Model train sets are a time and money consuming hobby that shouldn't be taken by someone without patience. If you are a beginner to model train sets, don't go out and buy a big intricate train set. Start off easy with a small rail road, not much landscaping such as trees, hills, and rivers.
I suggest either Model Power, Bachman, or Life-like train sets. All of these makers have cheap sets that are a good base for beginner train set makers. They range from 50 to 70 dollars and can be purchased at hobby stores or online as well. The Model Power train set can be purchased for about 60 dollars and comes with an Evening Star W/36" Circle Of Standard Track, 1 0-4-0 Santa Fe Steam Engine, 1 40' Boxcar, 1 40' Flat Car W/Logs, & 1 Caboose.
The Bachman model train set can be bought for a little higher of 68 dollars and comes with a Santa Fe Flyer W/36" Circle Of Bachmann E-Z Track & E-Z Mate Knuckle Couplers (1 Santa Fe FTA, 2 Freight Cars, & 1 Caboose). And the Life-Like model train set which is at a higher 95 dollars but comes with an Iron Horse W/47"x38" Oval Of Power-Loc Track, 1 0-4-0 Santa Fe Steam Engine, 3 Freight Cars, 1 Caboose, & Railroad, Street Signs, & Telephone Polls.
For beginners, I suggest buying a bachman train set to get knowledge and understand how model train sets work. As mentioned before, this hobby is very time and money consuming, and can be frustrating at times. Parts break, and some things won't work out at times. That's why learning the basics will help you further understand how the train works. After getting some experience in the world of train set collecting, you can then further expand your model train sets by adding more trains, more boxcars, more landscapes, and even more models. Remember, a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step, and patience is the key to a great model train set.
